Art is not necessary, just indispensable

It's sobering to think there was
a time in this country when women
couldn't vote. I mean, how hard is
it to vote, for crying out loud?
~~Some Putz

The characterization of God as an imaginary
friend came at me again, as if you could be
shamed out of believing. Then out of a news
piece, a group at a spiritual camp was reciting
Psalm 119, thanking God for his laws among
other things. My everyday is a spiritual camp
with no requirement to be reciting anything.
I'm beyond satiety in the spirit's-with-me area
and lay it out here just as a reminder that I'm
shameless, too Posted by Picasa

Onions and baked beans=tear gas

My mother's menu consisted of two choices:
Take it or leave it.
~~ Buddy Hackett

Flesh eating is excellent in moderation.
I bet if they made an ice cream with
beef chunks wrapped in leather, they'd
call it something like Triple Cow. "Can't a guy
sit in silence and enjoy his lunch without
someone shoving a basket in his face asking
for money? Man, I hate this church." I think
one reason they call
them "relaxed fit" jeans is
that "ass the size of Texas"
jeans would not sell very well. For some
reason I always confuse
the words "marinate" and "masturbate."
Maybe that's why nobody likes my cooking.
Enough cut and paste for today..

From Yesterday: Indisposed

My fate cannot be mastered; it can only be collaborated with and thereby, to some extent, directed. Nor am I the captain of my soul; I am only its noisiest passenger.
Aldous Huxley

Sun showers are like back rubs when the fan is aimed directly at you. A little cleansing rinsed away the balm that hovered after watching Million Dollar Baby this morning. Emotions stoked from art clear the cells for reality where they must be reined in at times to let rationale take charge. It's the luxury of the absence of clutter, a multi-textured zone constructed like a clean room for love (minus the hazmat gear). Another chapter today in the record length story of star-crossed lovers meant to be. Posted by Picasa

Alternative Realities

There comes a time in every man's life, and I've had plenty of them.
~~Casey Stengel

When freedom is the pudding on the table, all
of the other dishes are part of that reality. In
this version, freedom is like one planet in the
solar system, meaning all rest of the others
outnumber freedom, so enjoy it while it's still
there. There is a mano a mano between the
guy whose mate represents the freedom he
never knew and the other guy who stands on
freedom being attainable ONLY if you get
unmated. Most of the guys I knew would vote
for the latter. But if your only true
nourishment comes from her being in your
life, you were never free until she
reconstituted your life. So if all of this were
happening in a place where you are owned,
dominated by some force, would she and I
still be free to love each other like now? Damn
right we would. The freedom comes from
being right where you would pick if you could
and I picked with her.

Run Your Own Race

I try to construct a picture in which shapes, spaces, colors,
form a set of unique relationships, independent of any
subject matter. At the same time I try to capture and translate
the excitement and emotion aroused in me by the impact
with the original idea.
~~Milton Avery

Nice guys are mostly like non-descript guys and not so nice
guys - the personality is what you see first. Some nice guys are
nice just to be liked (or loved). Other nice guys use it to cover
a weasel's determination but eventually you run into the nice
guy who is because his cleaned up life affords him to add to,
not take away from the life surrounding him. If you get to
taste that and still feel OK about being a prick to get what you
want, then go back and board another train. What you emote
is what you morph into by default, influenced by the desires
of that other part of your soul where she designs sweetness.
The bitterness from Joan Allen's rage in Upside of Anger is a
reminder of the effect of betrayal - I'll take the sweet one,
thank you. Posted by Picasa

Timeless as Thrusting
My Rocket, Su Casa

Do you want me to tell you something really
subversive? Love is everything it's cracked up
to be. That's why people are so cynical about
it... It really is worth fighting for, being brave
for, risking everything for... and the trouble is,
if you don't risk anything, you risk even more
~~Erica Jong

Today's panties are Ruby Tuesdays with lucky
rocketships on them. The ruminations of love
are cycling flawlessly and that lucky ol' sun
taunts me. Got locked onto:
The below paragraph is true
The above paragraph is false
because the top is wrong and the bottom is
right. Got Col. Hall as Bilko's CO last nite - oh,
the drill down still works pretty well. I found
another effective use for Anbesol for where
we're asked the rhetorical -"why do you
scratch there?" Posted by Picasa

Up from the Let Down

Civilization exists precisely so that there may
be no masses but rather men alert enough
never to constitute masses.
~~Georges Bernanos

The one thing that diverts vilification for
being "one of those", those being love struck,
is by making it unrecognizable (the
vilification, that is). Trying to live on
yesterday's love makes for futility today. If
your today is loveless, longing for yesterday's
lost love is like trying to find the chills you had
when you first heard "That'll Be the Day". I
can't speak to survivorship situations but I
know in moving on ventures, today's love is
everything. It makes pop culture tolerable,
turns sugar water into mojitos and supplants
unvanquished as your tour de force. Posted by Picasa

Take Me to a New Place..

Jesus was a brilliant Jewish stand-up comedian, a phenomenal improviser. His parables are great one-liners.
~~Camille Paglia

Nothing is as potent as a self-determined
woman who has her mind made up about
something involving you. This is definitely a
NOT- too- much information space so the
particulars are too specific to show why, but
I'm clicking the keyboard with syncopated
rhythm as a result of this phenomenon. The
only hint is rubdowns and salads...Posted by Picasa

Meme, The Goddess of Tranquility

I don't want to achieve immortality through
my work. I want to achieve it through not
dying.
~~Woody Allen

Carry on used to automatically be followed by
love is coming, love is coming to us all thanks
to CSN&Y. Now that love is here, carry on is
what we do when the realization is there's an
endless supply of delusional jihadists bent
towards detonation. Carry on with the gift of
playing out the day focused on our realm
where violence can't reverse the riptide of
love. The meaning of today is parked in the
driveway of the crossroads where both
directions lead to serenity. Posted by Picasa

Junta for Bombs, Ladies

Art is our chief means of breaking bread with
the dead.
~~W. H. Auden

Crossroads is mostly metaphoric about "went
to the crossroads and fell down on my knees".
It's not the song I 'd pick to accompany my
meeting with God, since I was born with him
in me just like all of us are (or most of us...). So
NPR touts some guys in West Conchy funding
the study of the boundries between theology
and science using the humble approach. I like
talking to people who believe in Big Bang and
evolution and who don't cringe if God ever
crops up in conversation. But rather than
argue how nature looks now compared to the
Mesozoic era when my family strain started,
ooga-booga, I'm stuck on getting a good look at today's (boom-boom).
It was like an Apple guy explaining the DOS guy as a guy who needs
to know HOW it works and the Apple guy just
wants to know WHAT it can do. I see the
expanse and the foliage and move quickly to
let it do what is does to me. It always steers to
the best parts of living. Dying is just part of
living (maybe not so much the best part..). Posted by Picasa

Airy, yet substantial

Whoever can see through all fear will always
be safe.
Tao Te Ching

In my former life, I couldn't conceal my
longing for affection when in the presence of
other women. I am truly sorry for the
discomfort I caused to any of them who felt
flummoxed because I couldn't contain it (or
chose not to). Liberation came we met, when
we mated to indulge in affection saturation.
It's not the pure affection that commands
beyond resistance every day, it's the energy
infused by the love that delivers it. The songs
and dances that result are the tapestry that
hangs like the fronds in a still breeze,
pampering us with riches that humbles our
destiny. Her eyes project how proud our love
makes us feel. Posted by Picasa

If Rectal Itch Was Channeled

In Russia we only had two TV channels. Channel One was propaganda. Channel Two consisted of a KGB officer telling you: Turn back at once to Channel One.
~~Yakov Smirnoff

OK, the exercise in deliberate selection turned
into a combination of reflecting while teasing
my belly button with the promise of a happy
ending along the tile highway and tweaking
my navigation synapses by deep focus. It
blared out "you already know that the
deliberation has to be aware of becoming
paralysis by distraction". Yes, exercise is
practice and practice is making deliberate
selections about range of motion and
direction done in nanoseconds and hopefully,
mostly by neural rote. Staying with the top
choice is beyond wonderful. Night
rendezvous in the hot summer are hot. Posted by Picasa

Frankly, Scarlett, Got Better Things to Do

The demands of modern living are so
exacting that men and women everywhere
must exercise deliberate selection to live
wisely.
~~Robert Grant

One a day where the legs & abs get to rest for
tomorrow, I am working on finding good
ways to exercise deliberate selection. It goes
back to find how far to slide the arrow from
"take what the day gives you" towards "go for
the gold". I see it as already have the gold, go
for fixing the indifferent filter. The move away
from the darkest days of former life where it
was essential to block out all things I couldn't
control to focus on getting control of myself.
One of the residuals is I still go through the
filtering process that ends up putting things
like sports (ALL), violence, celebrities, minor
aches, blah-blah into the indifferent pile of
things that wisdom let me put there. No
malfunction with the filters, just want to keep
refining to ease the selection of the TOP thing
to get into. So writing these words under the
pix is the TOP thing for this moment? Damn
right. I can tell because I still get
overwhelmed with gratitude at the same
intensity. Heard from part of the clan today
whose endearing parts may be still there.

Watch Your Step

Stupidity's the deliberate cultivation of ignorance.
~~William Gaddis

There are few realm changing moments. So when they crop up, your deliberation on what to do needs to switch into deliberate action. Part of the difficulty is keeping the positive spin from degenerating into denial. Keeping on the high road as long as you can gets you to those heights everybody likes to describe as victory - a term of competition more than collaboration.

Ethel and Mabel, two elderly widows, were watching the folks go by from their park bench. Ethel said, "You know, Mabel, I've been reading this 'Sex and Marriage' book and all they talk about is 'mutual orgasm.'
"Mutual orgasm here and mutual orgasm' there. That's all they talk about. Tell me, Mabel, when your husband was alive, did you two ever have mutual orgasm?".
Mabel thought for a long while. Finally, she shook her head and said, "No, I think we had State Farm."

Like Trying to Smuggle Daylight Past a Rooster

Your red scarf matches your eyes
You’ve closed your cover before stri-i-iking
Your father had the ship fitter blues, and
loving you has made me bananas.
~~Neal Adams

The accent is on the part of the realm where
the landing is smooth and there is no
check-out time. The amphibious component
is not an add-on and the pre-sets are infinite.
You think there is no such place? Well, I knew
from the cot in kindergarten when nap time
meant it was time to dream that this place
was somewhere over the rainbow (thanks
Judy) and hanging up the wing tips revealed
that it was also over the Rockies. I feed
everyday on the thanks I can't stop for all the
believers who helped me find her. Posted by Picasa

She Must Be Stopped

The accomplice to the crime of corruption is
frequently our own indifference.
~~Bess Myerson

Sing to me your song of gadzooks. All the
yoots are pouring over the words to find
meaning in the realm where space pods and
jihads never existed. For me, her embrace is
enough and the certainty that we belong
does what the fantasies used to do. Chance is
the companion that we all wrap around,
diverting from the hinders and rebooting to
get back into the zone. Posted by Picasa

Facing Tomorrow with a Pyretic Perineum

God cannot be seen so long as there is the
slightest taint of desire. Therefore have your
minor desires satisfied , and renounce the
major ones through right reasoning and
discrimination.
~~Ramakrishna

Let's just take this particular country, one
which has made selling, shilling, marketing
while creating need to be fulfilled in the
marketplace, as a starting point. And this other country says,
"wanting a piece of that" and starts beating
that other country at its own game. But guess
what? While the emerging country gets richer
in volumes that pale Walmart, the other
country is stealing the iron grip that the snake oil
seller country used to get the money to make
its strategy work. Was it just me, or does the
image coming out of London make you
wonder if they're digging deeper for real
pride and letting that prevail better than we
did by feeling sorrow and horror then
loading the survivors' families with $$$$ while
flag lapel pins were everywhere. Then we
invaded Iraq. Today the space shuttle has a
fewked-up gas gauge and it's so hot today
that the palm trees were whistling for dogs. Posted by Picasa

My solecism is your mantra

Dreams have only one owner at a time. That's
why dreamers are lonely.
Erma Bombeck

All the warnings about second hand smoke,
do you ever hear about the possible health
risks after being exposed to second hand
poop? Dormitory style bathrooms often
contained methane levels that would singe
your nasel hairs faster than the borealis did at
Bopal. Being copacetic means taking in the
pleasant parts of nature. It may be 115 but it's
a friendly 115 in the shade in the deep end. Posted by Picasa

But she breaks just like a little girl

Informed decision-making comes from a long
tradition of guessing and then blaming
others for inadequate results.
Scott Adams

Inadequacy is finding the right words to
describe the #1 holder of what you value
most in your life. How do you say "she's the
best one in your shop" in words that don't
scream "I'm unbound because of her" to ears
expecting a reasoned description (binnesss)?
The quality that releases such sweet, soulful
love is just as much an asset in a constrained
setting like a meeting. It's a quality that living
an almost whole life is worth waiting before
finding it. But when that quality is matched
up againt a progressive outlook on what
works at work, the combo is worthy of
acclaim. Results done within a framework of
organization and empathy are lasting results
that sustain within corporate pride. No need
to accompany with "you'll miss me when I'm
gone" because you don't miss what you don't
know you have. Lay that against exuberantly
knowing precisely what you're getting in full.
Luck ? Some, but mostly destiny, baby.

Teh Areolas are RoXoR

It isn't necessary to be rich and famous to be
happy. It's only necessary to be rich.
~~Alan Alda

People are buying Buicks and Chevys because
they're as cheap as when a GM employee
buys one. One dealer here was offering micro-Firebirds
as "Free With Purchase" of
one of the many behemoth SUVs that just
haven't been selling. So I went to the
showroom and asked if anyone bought
anything today and the guy got pissed when I
ask for the free one based on that purchase.
He said I was validating his mistrust of
strangers. Tough to make a buck in this

Why the Long Face ?

All bad poetry springs from genuine feeling.
Oscar Wilde

Whatever happened to that colonial days
machismo that gave Gen. Washington the
cajones to take on the No. 1 army of that
time? So we go broke trying to defend
ourselves - actually never BROKE but
permeable enough to let be bought out in
our own markets. What dipshits! The world

without baseball is like an orange without

Drips and Drabs

Those megalithic discoveries of 4000 year old sanctuaries cause wonder about the equivalent back then of being blown up. Our best stuff (like this one) is being improved upon somewhere right now. So the lesson here is to optimize during the two words that are worshipped here today, "summer heat". Waste no time on 4000 year old remnants when there's some 4.5 billion year old sun to motivate an engagement. Posted by Picasa

Effen Fireworks....

The first song out of the silver Darth speaker
was Tommy Castro, "Whatcha gonna do
now?" and it could have been mine. The
empty spaces where she sprawled and
organized are too many to minimze in one
day. I need much immersion time and the day
is racing. Funny how the Let's Do Paradise
element in the everyday gets noticeably paler
when she's not here. At least the nite was
fireworks-free (external). The streets look like
all the other craptacular avenues where paid
people clean-up all the "fun" from the
celebration, only since no one's getting paid
to clean, the denizens here show that they
shit where they eat. Posted by Picasa

Until I Met You

Happiness is a continuation of happenings which aren't resisted.
~~Deepak Chopra

Freedom sometimes takes your life force to
make you feel totally free. When this force is
love and the person who loves you is
experiencing a cathartic resurgence which
tranforms your feelings to her feelings, that's
freedom. Like the visualization that your
inward breath is from the farthest distance in
the universe and you are renewed by the
same billion year old carbon that makes up
your body, that's freedom. Until your soul
meets its mate, you may be free by you'll
grow old always searching. When the search
is over, the best part kicks in - that's freedom. Posted by Picasa
